SecureNet (ASX:SNX), Australia’s leading security solutions provider, today announced that Request Broadband, a leading Australian broadband services provider, has been certified to the AS/NZS7799.2:2003 standard in Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).

SecureNet was chosen by Request Broadband to facilitate the process to achieve AS/NZS7799.2 certification. SecureNet’s Professional Services Group provided Consulting Services to Request Broadband to develop the required management framework to achieve certification by SAI Global.

Request Broadband is the first Australian broadband networking provider to achieve this certification. Request Broadband was issued with the Certificate of Registration by SAI Global on 28 July 2003, the only accredited organisation in Australia able to certify organisations to this increasingly necessary ISMS standard.

The ISMS addresses both the security of systems and the information stored in those systems. It outlines the content of an organisation’s security policy and the management structure to support that policy.

AS/NZS 7799.2:2003 certification encompasses guidance on physical, personnel and environmental security, addresses technical security of communications links and specifies how IT system access for development and maintenance purposes is controlled.

Organisations are increasingly implementing a standards-based Information Security Management System to comply with heightened commercial, legal and corporate governance requirements.

According to Jason Noorman, SecureNet’s General Manager for Services, “The consulting expertise that SecureNet was able to provide to Request Broadband has facilitated a smooth accreditation process to achieve this important security certification in the most efficient manner.”

SecureNet’s Professional Services team strengthens its customers' electronic security posture by planning and implementing customised projects that identify and remedy weaknesses in the management and usage of secure information resources. SecureNet’s consultants use the Enterprise Security Framework as a tool to enable organisations to develop effective strategies and methods for the integration of information security principles into all phases of an organisation’s operation. The key areas of focus for the implementation of the framework are:

- Security Governance - The development, analysis and review of the policies that govern the management of information security surrounding the information assets of an organisation
- Security Architecture - The Security Architecture details the standards for all security operations, including technical standards for information systems and all procedures related to information security management.
- Security Operations - Security Operations includes all of the day-to-day security activities for the organisation that are fundamentally tactical in nature. The specific activities within Security Operations are based on the standards provided in the Security Architecture and justified by the policies within Security Governance.
