Compaq Computer and WorldCom have joined to co-market Web hosting and Internet collocation services under the WorldCom brand using Compaq hardware and software, the companies announced Tuesday.
Aimed at enterprise customers, WorldCom and Compaq will jointly sell and market the combination of products and services for Web hosting and collocation services, using preconfigured Compaq ProLiant servers and StorageWorks hosting software as well as Compaq's consulting and customer support services, the companies said in a statement.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
WorldCom has already standardized its global network and Internet data centers on Compaq for its Microsoft Corp. Windows NT/2000 Web hosting platform, WorldCom and Compaq said.
Compaq is joining an already crowded IT and Web hosting market that includes IBM Corp.'s Global Services, Electronic Data Systems Corp. and Accenture Ltd., as well as Dell Computer Corp., which last month signed a US$1 billion IT services outsourcing agreement with Unisys Corp.
