NSW the digital state
As Sydney shines under the world spotlight of the Olympic Games the state government has been actively selling its message that NSW is the digital state of Australia. The Department Of State And Regional Development has labelled Sydney's North Shore the "dotcom corridor", the local equivalent of Silicon Valley, with more than 400 IT&T companies. A department spokesman said the state's IT&T sector generates more than $26 billion a year.
Citrix turns to fire
The New Zealand Fire Service has implemented a wide area network to connect almost 10,000 firefighters to central information systems and desktop apps. Fire service officials said that it would use application server company Citrix's MetaFrame to increase communication and information sharing between all 450 fire stations, brigades and regional offices in NZ.
