Business Objects SA announced a new OEM agreement with Peregrine Systems Inc. Wednesday designed to deliver BI (business intelligence) capabilities in its infrastructure management solutions.
Once the integration is complete, Peregrine customers will have access to a complete 360-degree view of all their infrastructure assets, company officials said. San Jose, Calif.-based Business Objects' BI capabilities will allow Peregrine customers to use a common tool to analyze and report on critical business data. Users can share and analyze information across departments, while extending BI data to customers, buyers, suppliers, and business partners via extranets, intranets, portals, and mobile environments.
Within the past five years, companies have realized that they need to manage more than the financial assets within their firewalls, which was the focus of ERP applications, said Nicole Eagan, vice president of platform technologies at Peregrine, in San Diego. Under this new agreement, customers will benefit from a "big picture" perspective through sophisticated data analysis and reporting from one common tool, she added.
With the agreement, Peregrine will embed Business Objects' technology within a common Web portal for its infrastructure management application suites, officials said. These applications are designed to enable companies to better manage their operational processes and costs across all infrastructure disciplines, including tangible and intangible assets. The integration will enable Peregrine customers to create advanced ad hoc queries and analyze reports on Peregrine data and share these reports within a controlled environment both inside and outside the enterprise.
Business Objects has forged similar agreements with vendors from various other markets, including customer relationship management, supply-chain management, data management, and data warehousing.
