Daniel Sargeant has been appointed managing director of Getronics Australia, following the resignation of former MD, Robin Dixon.
Sargeant has returned to Australia to take up the appointment after two years based in Singapore as chief financial officer, Asia Pacific for Getronics Australia's parent company, Getronics NVHe took up the then newly-created role in 1998 and was responsible for the Getronics business across Japan, Greater China, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia. In 1999 he took on additional operational support responsibilities for the region.
Previously, from September 1995, Sargeant was finance director of Wang Global Australia.
Sargeant has also worked with international organisations including Mars Corporation.
Former MD, Dixon told Computerworld that, after five years of running the company, he felt it was time to move on. "I want to do new things. Although I don't know what yet, I need to get outside the organisation to see what they might be," Dixon said.
Sargeant said Dixon is continuing during the hand over period through to the end of February.
