Rittal Launches Slim-Box Vario Rack-Mounted System

 • 05 March, 2008 10:16

Sydney, 5 March 2008 – Rittal, a leading worldwide provider of electronic systems, has launched Slim-Box Vario, a 19-inch, powerful rack-mounted system for small electronic enclosures.

The Slim-Box Vario features a space-saving design with integrated power supply and climate control functions. A key feature of the Slim-Box Vario is the horizontal arrangement of the equipment enabling twice the number of functional components to be integrated on 1, 2, 3 or 4 U (i.e. 2, 4, 6 or 8). Two slots per U are available at the front and rear. The housings contain a backplane for VME64x or cPCI.

Similar to the horizontal arrangement of the boards, DC fans in the left-hand side panel provide optimum horizontal ventilation for the housing. Other features include a slide-in fan unit with air filter and 12V DC fan. In addition, sufficient space has been created for three or six fans depending on the height of the housing. Users can also remove the fan unit and filter mat if required.

Specifically, the Slim-Box Vario housings are 300 mm deep and designed for the installation of cPCI, cPCI Express, VME64x boards of 3U, 6U or rear I/O boards.

Spacing-saving features enable sufficient installation room for a slim CD-ROM drive and a 3.5” HDD.

A power supply is also included with Slim-Box Vario, either as an ATX power supply or optionally as a hot-swappable plug-in power supply. Accessories include guide rails, monitoring components and front panels.

Housings can be customised using a range of standard components. The sheet steel housings are spray-finished black, are fully configured and can be supplied with power supply and backplane.
