The IDC Award For Best Practices In Infrastructure Outsourcing Goes To…

 • 27 November, 2007 11:31

NORTH SYDNEY, 27th Nov, 2007

EDS has emerged the winner on IDC's leadership grid in a competitive analysis report on the infrastructure outsourcing players in Australia.

"EDS scored the highest on majority of the parameters defined in the report. With one of the broadest market footprints EDS has great expertise in managing complex outsourcing deals. IBM's strength in its current offering has put it in a solid position very close to EDS in the Leaders quadrant. The results have been derived from extensive survey data and interviews run with the buyers of these services, and also our knowledge and assessment of the competitive strategies of the suppliers/vendors of infrastructure outsourcing services," says Aprajita Sharma Research Manager Outsourcing and BPO services.

"Its been interesting to see that many of the Indian offshore players like TCS, Satyam, Infosys and Wipro are demonstrating a well-articulated strategy for the infrastructure outsourcing business and are strongly positioned in the Followers quadrant. These players have had great successes within this space in the US and European markets and have laid out robust go-to-market strategies for the Australian market. These firms are moving past the wage-arbitrage proposition and focusing on value generation through remote infrastructure management."

"The increasing interest and emergence of Remote Infrastructure Management Outsourcing (RIMO) is likely to invigorate the infrastructure outsourcing marketplace. As these new models emerge, they offer traditional IT outsourcing suppliers an elegant way to reposition themselves so they can deliver potentially higher-margin opportunities. It also enables them to re-energise their business development activities and target a new buying audience as well in addition to their existing client base," she added.

Some other key highlights of the report are:

# The following companies are covered in detail: Accenture, Capgemini, CSC, EDS, Getronics, HP, HCL Technologies, IBM Global Services, Infosys, LogicaCMG, Telstra, TCS, Satyam, Unisys and Wipro

# This Leadership Grid does not explicitly reflect current infrastructure outsourcing services revenue for the service providers involved in the exercise. Instead, vendors were evaluated based on the criteria defined by IDC, which were chosen to reflect leadership, as opposed to current outsourcing revenue
