People Telecom today launched its new 3G mobile and Wireless2Go wireless broadband services.
The new services offer People Telecom customers access to the full range of 3G capabilities, including higher data speeds for downloads and enhanced multi-media features such as Internet browsing, instant messaging, video calling, maps and directions.
The Wireless2Go mobile broadband service provides high-speed broadband connectivity direct to a lap-top or PC, and operates wherever HSDPA, 3G or GSM coverage is available.
People Telecom CEO, John Stanton, said that both existing and new People Telecom customers could benefit from the move to the latest-generation suite of mobile services.
"Our business customers in particular will be able to reap the benefits of increased functionality in the office and on the move," he said.
Earlier this year People Telecom cut its mobile rates by up to 40 per cent and introduced per-second billing and enhanced free-calling packages to its mobile service delivery, generating additional benefits for customers who rely on information mobility in their businesses.
People Telecom is a leading provider of mobile services to both retail and wholesale customers in the Australian market.
The announcement comes at a time when Telstra is urging its customers to make the switch from CDMA to its Next G network claiming better coverage 25 percent more coverage than its predecessor.
Telstra Wireless executive director Mike Wright said Next G has 75 percent more transmission towers than CDMA, is five times faster and offers roaming in 160 more countries than its predecessor.
IDC research analyst Jerson Yau said aggressive tactics will be required for Telstra to migrate one million CDMA subscribers over the next four months.
