The Australian Defence Force has opened a new customer support centre to handle all its users' IT woes.
The call centre, opened in Canberra on Monday, will provide assistance for more than 75,000 military and civilian defence users throughout the Asia-Pacific region, which, Australian Defence Force claims, makes it one of the largest IT support centres in the Asia-Pacific region.
Parliamentary secretary to the Minister for Defence, Fran Bailey, said the centre was created to consolidate and improve Defence's information system support to both military personnel and Defence civilians.
"The customer support centre is a critical element of our overall Defence capability, vital to the ongoing success of our work both at home and abroad," she said, in a statement.
She said ADF's information services branch is responsible for the provision of the corporate systems for voice and data and enterprise server support for the centre.
"This includes the management of a variety of defence wide programs including personnel and financial systems."
