Former Westpac IT chief appointed EDS Asia Pacific VP

Held CIO role at National Australia Bank from 1994 to 2000

EDS has appointed Michael Coomer as both executive vice president for the Asia Pacific region and leader of the company's global financial services industry organization.

Effective from November 1, 2007, he will report directly to EDS president and CEO, Ron Rittenmeyer.

In his role as the head of EDS' Asia Pacific region, Coomer replaces Joe Eazor who was recently promoted to executive vice president of corporate strategy and business development.

Eazor will work with EDS' senior leadership team to develop corporate strategy and build the company's portfolio through mergers and acquisitions.

Coomer has more than three decades of information technology (IT) experience, including deep expertise across the financial services, telecommunications and defense industries.

In his Asia Pacific regional leadership role, Coomer will drive new business development and continue to accelerate EDS' aggressive growth in high-quality, low-cost locations across the region.

Additionally, he will further strengthen the company's market share in the global financial services arena, which represents more than $4 billion in annual revenue for EDS in 30 countries.

Before joining EDS, Coomer most recently served as group executive of business and technology services for the Westpac Banking Corporation.

He was instrumental to implementing the bank's innovative IT, communications infrastructure and back office delivery. He also drove supply chain management best practices.

From 1994 to 2000, Coomer was CIO at the National Australia Bank, responsible for leading all IT activities in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Previously, he spent more than 10 years with Rockwell International, serving in multiple executive positions focused on large-scale defense, aerospace, finance and manufacturing projects.
