Brocade switch added to HP storage offering

Storage area networks (SANs) infrastructure provider Brocade Communications Systems has expanded its relationship with Hewlett-Packard, making its latest enterprise fabric switch available for HP SAN customers.

The Brocade SilkWorm 3800 switch lets companies connect servers with storage devices through a SAN, to create a scalable environment for storage applications.

The fabric switch offers 2Gbit/sec performance and the company claims this factor will increase SAN scalability, enhance security, and simplify storage network management.

A company sopokesman said the switch also offers fabric services needed for enterprise storage applications, such as business continuance, storage and server consolidation, and centralised data management. It is available on HP Surestore FC 16B, the networking platform for HP SAN solutions customers.

Don Kleinschnitz, general manager of HP's scalable network solutions division, said the new fabric switch lets its customers deploy new 2Gbit/sec SAN solutions and seamlessly integrate them with existing 1Gbit/sec Fibre Channel infrastructure.
