With more than 20 years experience at AT&T, Fred Girouard has been appointed managing director for the communications company in Australia and New Zealand.
Girouard, who transferred from New Jersey in the United States, formally assumed his new position in Sydney on October 1, 2007.
In his new role, Girouard will be responsible for continuing AT&T's business growth across the Tasman while managing the needs of existing multinational customers in these markets.
Girouard has more than 20-years' experience within AT&T, most recently as the executive director for the business development team in global sales enablement. In this role, Girouard led an organization responsible for developing custom contract solutions for AT&T's large enterprise clients and for negotiating those agreements to a successful conclusion.
Prior to this, Girouard served as a sales manager in AT&T's national accounts group.
AT&T Asia Pacific vice president, V.S. Gopi Gopinath, said Girouard has a solid track record in the telcoms industry delivering oustanding results for clients.
"The Asia Pacific is AT&T's fastest-growing region worldwide and I believe the wealth of experience he brings to this position will continue to drive our success," he said.
Girouard said the company has an outstanding roster of blue chip clients, and he is confident AT&T can continue to grow and develop its business in ANZ.
He holds an MBA in financial economics from Pace University and a Bachelor's degree in finance and economics from Marquette University.
He has been actively involved in community outreach programs and for five years taught New York City's inner city children basic business concepts and the value of education. Girouard is married and has four children.
