Inrange unveils monster switch

Inrange Technologies this week released the first Fibre Channel director level switch with 256 ports for large enterprises deploying storage area networks (SANs).

The IN-VSN FC/9000 switch is a redundant, non-blocked switch that can be used to expand SANs. The switch supports E-Port interoperability, a standard that allows it to be connected and work with switches from other Fibre Channel vendors, such as Brocade.

IT managers can use the switch to front-end and congregate smaller fabric switches at the network edge, thus concentrating traffic. It can be installed to support switched, arbitrated loop, public and private and point-to-point SANS.

The switch features redundant pathing, control modules, power and fans for fault-tolerance as well as phone home and pager direct dial feature when problems are detected.

Pricing is not available on the IN-VSN but the product is available now.
