Australian fabric, craft and home interior company, Spotlight Pty Ltd, is revamping its information systems replacing a number of custom built applications and packaged solutions.
The company will move to a single platform with the implemention of SAP for Retail with phase one to be completed by October, 2007.
The project is designed to provide Spotlight with access to detailed performance data to support its focus on customer relationships.
Spotlight CIO, Anne McDiarmid, said it will also improve visibility and management of stock and increase the effectiveness of pricing and promotion strategies.
McDiarmid said the company will also deploy novaRetail, which is a fully integrated and pre-configured software packaged solution.
The ERP Retail solution is based on the SAP for Retail industry solution from SAP partner, CIBER Novasoft.
"The business is experiencing strong growth; we now have more than 100 stores in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand and we are further expanding into Asia," she said.
"There is now a substantial upside to putting the business onto a single information platform."
While a significant amount of decision making power rests with individual store managers, McDiarmid said the project will improve information flow across the business.
"Decisions are left with store managers to meet the specific seasonal requirements and preferences of local customers," MdDiarmid said.
"The SAP system will support in-store promotions and will provide store managers and buyers with detailed analysis on promotions and special offers."
Spotlight is a privately owned family business that has been operating in Australia for 33 years.
Enterprise business software vendor SAP has more than 36,200 customers in more than 120 countries.
