Toshiba deploys Aussie threat management software

Deal marks entry into Japanese market

Electronics giant Toshiba has deployed the Huntsman threat management software by Sydney-based software company Tier-3.

According to Tier-3, Huntsman is capable of managing both known and unknown threats and will strengthen Toshiba's log collection and security management capability.

Tier-3's entry into the Japanese market follows its expansion into the UK and Europe.

Tier-3 business development director Paul Johansen said the Huntsman software has automated, real-time enterprise protection against "increasingly pervasive" security threats and has integrated risk management capabilities to support good governance.

"Tier-3, and its partner Monet, are delighted that this Toshiba factory chose the Huntsman threat management system to meet its operational risk monitoring and control requirements and both companies look forward to broadening [the] relationship," Johansen said.

Tier-3 CEO Peter Woollacott said the company is delighted that a division of a Japanese company like Toshiba has selected the Huntsman technology to control and protect its enterprise against risks ranging from errant system activity to attempts to seize control of infrastructure or misuse enterprise assets.

"Our clients know that Huntsman meets the needs of both ICT risk and compliance managers," Woollacott said. "We offer patented, real-time anomaly management technology to permit instantaneous prioritization and management of risky events."

Huntsman collects and analyses information at the network, operating system, and application layers to enable improved risk management decisions, according to Tier-3.
