ProCurve debuts partner portal

HP partners gain access and first looks at new technologies

ProCurve Networking by HP has launched a new partner portal to consolidate reseller information and other resources into one website.

South pacific sales manager, Mike Pritchard, said the portal was the logical next step following the growth of the vendor's market share in recent years.

"We're growing fast in the networking space and are now number two in the market," he said. "When a vendor grows like this, partner expectations grow, too. The expectation is that you will scale with the market."

Pritchard said the portal would be particularly useful to new resellers looking to join its entry-level Select Partner Program, launched three months ago.

"People who join Select are basically trying out the ProCurve partner program," he said. "In the future, they might step up to the other levels like the Professional or Specialist programs."

Information residing on the portal includes welcome kits, emails, whitepapers and other marketing material used between HP and its partners. It will also feature some new forms of content.

"HP as a company plays its cards close to its chest," Pritchard said. "But through the site, the partner community will get forward access and sneak peaks of new technologies."

Partner logos would also be made available through the portal. Pritchard said it would place a greater emphasis on branding ProCurve partners in the market via co-branded advertising during the second half of the year.
