Local field force software takes on global market

Integration with existing enterprise apps possible

Sydney-based O4 Corporation continues to win international business with one of India's largest ISPs, Sify Corp, announcing a partnership to deliver field force automation.

O4 adds Sify Corp to its list of multinational customers including Procter & Gamble, Foster's Group, and Janssen-Cilag (Johnson & Johnson).

The deal will see O4's suite of field force solutions to deployed to Sify's supply chain and mobility business unit, Forum.

O4 will also train Sify's staff at its Sydney-based global solutions centre.

Deputy general manager of Sify's Forum group, Paul Debjyoti, said the O4 solution is an important part of the company's mobility strategy in the consumer goods industry space.

"We assessed mobility providers from the US and Europe but found that they were not flexible in their solutions and weren't able to service our unique needs," Debjyoti said. "We want to scale globally and O4 is a vital partner in providing solutions which will enable that."

Sify's consumer business offers broadband connectivity to about 3500 Internet cafes across India.

The company's enterprise solutions executive president, P J Nath, said Forum provides connectivity to large enterprises with distributors and retailers over the Internet, through its sales, distribution and inventory management software.

"Our partnership with O4 will further enhance our portfolio offering by providing mobility solutions to SCM customers," Nath said.

O4's field force solutions can run standalone as a complete field operations system or can be integrated with existing IT systems like Oracle, SAP, Pivotal, or in-house applications.

O4 Corporation CEO Des Miller said the deal turns the whole outsourcing model on its head.

"Where the world looks to India and China for their goods and services, this partnership sees India's biggest ISP turn to an Australian company to play a leading role in its global expansion plans," Miller said.

Miller said where field force workers in Australia may visit five to seven stores in a day, Indian field workers make shorter, higher frequency visits at 30 to 50 stores a day, so having a mobility solution which is as efficient and easy to use is essential.

Other O4 clients include, Sanitarium, Bacardi Lion, Pernod Ricard Pacific, Brown-Forman Australia, Suntory, Reckitt Benckiser, and Mundipharma.
