ScriptLogic announced Monday a product designed to help IT administrators better secure and track user access to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.
Security Explorer for SharePoint software lets IT administrators manage SharePoint 2007, as well as Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. The ScriptLogic software downloads to a desktop or server, and lets systems administrators manage security on Windows machines. For instance, administrators can manage, search, duplicate, and back up and recover permissions for file systems, printers, registries, file shares, services and scheduled tasks on SharePoint servers.
The company says the software also reduces the time it takes to manage access rights to SharePoint content and generates reports necessary for regulatory compliance.
"Our customers can rely on the product to save time, enhance security efforts and assist with compliance," says Nick Cavalancia, vice president of product marketing management at ScriptLogic. The software competes with such products as Attachmate's NetIQ File Security Administrator.
Security Explorer for SharePoint is in beta and is expected to be available in July. The software is priced per server and per workstation, but a free 30-day trial can be downloaded when the software is available here.
