Leading enterprise content management (ECM) software company, Objective Corporation (ASX: OCL) today announced that City Gas in Singapore has awarded Objective a contract to provide an electronic document and records management (EDRMS) solution.

City Gas produces town gas and retails it nation-wide to residents as well as supplying both town gas and natural gas to commercial and industrial sectors. It has more than 2,600 kilometres of pipe network, providing piped gas to more than 90% of new high density building estates, many private condominiums and landed properties as well as commercial and industrial customers.

Objective’s enterprise-wide solution will be used across two locations, by Customer Service, HR & Corporate Services, Sales & Marketing, Finance and Production.

City Gas will use Objective for effective information management by providing staff with a single system to capture, store, manage, find and view information.

Objective will enable City Gas to shift from a paper-based environment to an electronic environment able to manage the department's growing quantities of electronic information. It will provide a centralised information store eliminating silos of information that currently exist across business divisions.

Lawrence Siow, IT Manager, City Gas said: “We faced risks associated with our existing paper based system. Information was retained in a paper format, in a one-off record, creating a risk of loss either by misfiling, fire or some other disaster. With Objective, we can be assured our information will remain secure for future use.

“With no existing system, we wanted to have confidence in storing all physical and electronic information in a single repository providing people with a single access point to crucial corporate information. It will enable us to standardise information management across the organisation by providing staff with the direction, tools, training and support they need.

The solution will deliver a range of business benefits to the people at the City Gas:
- Improved search capability will deliver time savings to staff, particularly those working across divisions.
- Improved decision-making with timely access to information.
- Increased efficiency in new projects that can leverage information from past efforts in a move toward knowledge management.
- Elimination of information redundancies and reduction of future storage costs.

“We selected Objective because it enabled City Gas to move into the future with the ability to manage increasing quantities of information. Objective's reputation for successful, scalable implementations and their approach to implementation and ongoing support of their solutions was well regarded,” said Mr Siow.

Tony Walls, CEO, Objective Corporation said, “We are delighted that City Gas has selected Objective, this builds upon our strong presence in the utilities space. It further illustrates Objective’s practical application to utilities.

“This contract extends Objective’s geographical footprint into South East Asia. This region is an important market for Objective. We are committed to the region, employing experienced, local people. Their experience in ECM and related technologies, together with their knowledge of local business issues is invaluable to providing our customers with successful, relevant solutions that deliver real business outcomes,” said Mr Walls.
