Baan to Form Dedicated E-CRM Company

SINGAPORE (03/29/2000) - Baan Co. NV will form a new subsidiary dedicated to providing electronic business applications focused on the fast-growing Internet CRM (customer relationship management) market, the company announced today.

The move is designed to accelerate Baan's delivery of Internet-enabled applications, open new markets, and migrate Baan's core business to an Internet-based model, the company said in a statement.

Capitalizing on the opportunities created by the new Internet economy requires and demands a strong focus, which can best be achieved through partnerships and spin-offs where they are strategically justified, according to Baan Chief Executive Officer Pierre Everaert.

Baan will consolidate all CRM activities and resources into a single entity.

The new company will leverage the global network of Baan partners and consultants as well as the Baan sales force and will cooperate with electronic marketplace companies and other partners, Baan said in the statement.

The entity will also leverage a planned network of CRM research centers, the first of which was opened last week in Copenhagen, Denmark. [See "Baan, Compaq, MS Set Up European CRM Center", March 24.]The new company will operate globally, with headquarters in Golden, Colorado.

Baan is currently in the process of creating a new subsidiary and expects to have the legal entity in place by June.
