Reflex Security has upgraded its intrusion-prevention technology with real-time network status information to give enterprise IT staff better insight into devices involved in possible attacks.
Reflex is licensing Insightix's IT Visibility software, which gathers network traffic and configuration data, and integrating it with its Reflex IPS product line. The combination provides the intrusion-prevention products with information about devices on the network that may be involved in sending or receiving suspicious traffic.
This added data about the network and the individual devices on it helps the Reflex IPS products better determine whether suspicious traffic represents a threat that should be blocked. For instance, an operating system attack against a machine with a different operating system or properly patched operating system could be classified as a lower-priority incident that need not be addressed.
Insightix uses technology it calls stateful network-detection to keep data about devices and network topology current.
