Network systems integrator Datacraft Asia Ltd. has bought into the electronic commerce consulting market with the US$5.25 million purchase of a majority stake in Hong Kong company I Square Solutions Ltd., Datacraft announced yesterday.
Datacraft has been aggressively acquiring networking partners in Korea and Japan over the past year, but the I Square purchase marks its first foray into Internet business consulting and Web-based application development services.
The acquisition of I Square provides Datacraft with an entry into the fields of e-commerce consulting and of integrating Web-based applications. Datacraft also gains a wealth of Java-based software code which it can plug into its own software, enabling it to shorten implementation time for e-commerce projects, Ron Cattell, chief executive officer of Datacraft Asia, said in a statement.
The acquisition is part of Datacraft's plan to increase revenues from high-value services that deliver end-to-end e-business solutions, Cattell said in a statement. The company is acquiring expertise in arenas such as supply chain management, customer relationship management and knowledge management, he said.
Last year, Datacraft bought Japanese system integrators PTS Co. Ltd. and Netwave Inc., along with Korea's Commis Network Inc. and Perfect Network Inc.
The company's fastest-growing market recently has been mainland China, where it has a long-established subsidiary specializing in local government network infrastructure projects.
