Aprisma set to stand on its own

Storage giant EMC last week unveiled a software and services package for business continuity and announced a new release of its storage area network (SAN) management software.

The new software/services package called Rapid Results, will help customers plan for business outages and minimize their risk.

EMC claims that having active and productive protection is far better than incurring the cost of a dormant disaster recover site. To provide active protection, the Rapid Results program assesses and evaluates critical business systems, isolates flaws and recommends recovery procedures. EMC also works with customers to design a plan that meets their needs and then implements the hardware, software and telecommunications gear involved.

Rapid Results takes 30 days from inception to finish.

The company also introduced enhancements to its ESN Manager Software to include the ability to manage Compaq StorageWorks arrays and allow customers to discover, partition and report on them. Similar support is also offered for EMC's CLARiiON Storage System.

ESN Manager Software includes what EMC claims to be the first multi-vendor switch management package. The package manages Brocade, EMC and McData Fibre Channel switches from the same management console. Pricing was not available.
