Grabba International, a fast growing Brisbane based software developer and exporter of barcode scanners, magnetic stripe, smart card and RFID readers designed to work with a range of PDA’s and Smartphones, announced today that its North American subsidiary, Grabba, Inc., has completed delivery of the initial roll out of a major international contract to supply the world’s largest escorted tour operator, Globus, with hundreds of specially adapted hand held magnetic stripe card readers.

The Globus™ family of companies consists of more than 30 tourism and aviation businesses, employs more than 5,000 tourism tour professionals worldwide. The recently combined, Globus™ and Cosmos™ companies carry hundreds of thousands of tourists a year making the group the leading operator of guided vacations worldwide.

The significant international contract, is part of a world wide proprietary project called eOptionals™ managed by Globus™ from their Colorado office, and involves the entire international Globus family of brands™ includes Globus™, Cosmos™, Avalon™, Monograms™, and Brennan Vacations™

Exhaustively field tested for more than 18 months, the sophisticated hand held credit card reading device is a unique Grabba design which combines the Palm Treo Smartphone with software written by 3G Touch Solutions exclusively for Globus™ , plus a Citizen Blue Tooth printer and provides the tour operator with a unique integrated solution for the instant processing of credit cards via the PayJunction payment gateway while on tour.

“As a result, any Globus™ tour operator anywhere in the world can swipe a credit card through the Grabba, and have it processed immediately, in real time and with absolute security. This achieves a significant cash flow process improvement for Globus™, as previous paper-based transactions typically took much longer to transact,” Grabba CEO Frank Downes said in Brisbane today.

“As the Globus family of brands™ provides escorted travel for hundreds of thousands of passengers each year, the instant cash flow transaction benefits for their organisation are enormous,” Mr. Downes said. “Grabba, and the other hardware and software companies involved, have worked closely with each other, and with, the Globus family of brands™ for many months to create a solution that can operate equally well in suburban US or the most remote locations in equatorial Africa.”

“Similar Grabba magnetic stripe reader based solutions are becoming – indeed have become - widely accepted in the US,” Mr. Downes said. “In Australia we have been working for more than a year with a major bank to develop a system similar to that used by Globus™ and others, one that will meet the strict Australian Banking Industry regulatory requirements, which we expect to be able to offer in Quarter 2, 2007.”

“We are delighted with the success of the Globus project, as we believe there is a huge market for similar systems in the transportation and tourism industry worldwide. Grabba products turn PDAs and smartphones into true solution providers and income earners,” he said.
