Hoping to make a splash in the burgeoning educational services market, enterprise software provider SAP AG said Tuesday that it has allied with Siemens AG to develop and market software that aids companies in designing and implementing knowledge products and services.

The software, aimed at corporate universities, training institutions and human resource departments, will allow users to design courses, develop content and relate it to respective business administration processes, the companies said. Additionally, users will be able to develop customized courses and deliver them online.

The software will be based on SAP's mySAP.com platform and the SAP Learning Solution, which consists of a learning portal, a learning management system, an authoring environment and a content management system. The Walldorf, Germany company will provide the software, industry-specific customization, and interfaces.

For its part, Munich-based Siemens will dedicate its corporate business Qualification and Training unit to define which business processes will be covered.
