Ed Zander has joined the board of directors of Netezza Corp., a privately held startup based in Framingham, Massachusetts. Zander will retire as president and chief operating officer of Sun Microsystems Inc. on July 1, that company announced earlier this month.
Netezza has developed an integrated "business intelligence" platform, including software and a server, that allows Fortune 1000 companies to quickly process tera-scale data queries, according to information at the Web site for the company, which announced Zander's appointment to the board on Tuesday.
The company was founded in 2000 and has acquired total funding so far of more than US$28 million. Besides Zander and company co-founders Jit Saxena and Foster Hinshaw, the Netezza board includes representatives of venture capital firms.
