“Video-conferencing is a mission critical service for Australian Defence Command and Control, supporting military operations on a worldwide basis, including Iraq and Afghanistan,” says Ross McIntyre, the Department of Defence Director of Communications Services who will present a very current technical session at next month’s important three day WAINHOUSE COLLABORATION SUMMIT bringing Suppliers, End Users, Channel Partners, and Service Providers together in an interactive forum on Unified Communications.

McIntyre is just one of many local and international speakers, users and educators who will present the very latest technology in Telepresence, HD Video and voice-video-web application sessions and dedicated workshops for Government (particularly Defence), wide area TeleHealth delivery, Distance Learning for Higher Education, Financial Services and K-12 from suppliers such as IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, Polycom, Tandberg, Radvision and Telstra.

The Wainhouse Collaboration Summit – recognised as the leading international conference on IP communications and the merger of voice, video and web conferencing – is being brought to Australia for the first time in 2007 by Canberra based secure videoconferencing specialist ServicePoint, following six years of sell-out events in San Francisco and Berlin. The Wainhouse Collaboration Summit program will explore current and next-generation enterprise conferencing solutions and implementation strategies including video, IP Telephony, enterprise workflow applications, and collaboration portals.

The Department of Defence session is entitled “The evolution of video-conferencing in Australian Defence - How video-conferencing became a mission critical service,” and will cover the evolution path of public and secure video-conferencing 1990 to 2007 - The role of secure video-conferencing in operational planning, command and control - INTERFET – East Timor - TAMPA Refugee Evacuation HMAS Manoora Northern Australia and Australian Deployed Forces 2007.
