NZ Dept of Conservation Signs 5 Year Services Agreement with Fujitsu

Fujitsu helps Department of Conservation preserve New Zealand’s natural environment with five-year services agreement

The Department of Conservation (DoC) in New Zealand has extended its long-term relationship with Fujitsu by signing a new five-year contract for IT infrastructure management as the result of a tender process.

The deal will see Fujitsu continue to supply and manage operational business technology systems for DoC. The contract includes hardware, software, configuration and support for desktop systems, servers and associated networks.

DoC is the leading central government agency charged with conserving New Zealand’s natural and historic heritage for peoples’ enjoyment. It manages about one-third of the country’s land area. DoC employs almost 1,500 permanent staff and up to 500 seasonal workers. It operates in a unique and challenging environment with services and facilities in cities, towns and remote locations.

Fujitsu was first appointed as DoC’s IT partner in 1998. In March 1999, DoC signed a five-year contract giving Fujitsu responsibility for its IT infrastructure management and support. This allowed Fujitsu to work with DoC to streamline IT infrastructure, resulting in improved service levels and lower standard operating costs.

Fujitsu has worked with DoC to redesign DoC’s technical infrastructure and introduced new desktop and server systems that made it easier to support and manage centrally. In addition, Fujitsu has helped to improve DoC’s internal communications and information architecture with a department-wide intranet.
