Teradata Help Bank of New Zealand Take Honours at NEXUS Awards

<p>SYDNEY, Australia - Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), helped the Bank of New Zealand to take away one silver NEXUS award and one bronze NEXUS award for Data Mining and Analytics at the annual New Zealand Direct Marketing Awards, announced Friday (February 25) evening.</p>
<p>The silver was awarded to the Bank of New Zealand’s Customer Retention and Loyalty submission which demonstrated how the bank combined analytics and a number of data-mining solutions in order to identify customers who were potentially thinking about leaving the bank, so they could then reach out to these people in an effort to retain their business.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the bank’s bronze award – this time for their submission on Future Proofing Home Loans – focused on how the Bank of New Zealand empowered home loan bankers to maximise opportunities by contacting customers at the right time and presenting them with meaningful products and offers. The bank employed data-mining techniques and predictive modelling in order to generate the quality leads that were passed on to the home loan bankers.</p>
<p>After accepting the awards, Bank of New Zealand General Manager of Business Development and Strategy, Andrew Whitechurch, thanked the Teradata team saying they were a vital component, not only in the Bank of New Zealand’s success at the NEXUS awards, but also in the bank’s ongoing commitment to run proactive campaigns with high customer relevance.</p>
<p>The common denominator between the award-winning entries and the bank’s other sophisticated campaigns is Tailored Opportunities (TOPs) – an analytical system built with Teradata solutions that analyses the behaviours, transactions and interactions of the Bank of New Zealand’s retail and premium customer base and generates ‘leads’ so that Bank of New Zealand personal bankers can proactively contact their customers with relevant offers and assistance.</p>
<p>“TOPs stores all customer data, including transactions and interactions, such as complaints, financial plans and all contacts with their personal banker. Mining this data allows the Bank of New Zealand to run campaigns that are far more relevant to our customers needs,” explained Mr Whitechurch.</p>
<p>In awarding the Bank of New Zealand the two accolades, NEXUS chief Judge Paul O’Sullivan said, “The Bank of New Zealand’s entry clearly demonstrated how, with the help of Teradata, the bank was using direct marketing solutions to win new business, build relationships with customers and grow their existing customer base”.</p>
<p>In addition to winning the Silver and Bronze awards in the Data Mining and Analytics category, a third Bank of New Zealand submission made it through to the finalist stage. Nine companies made the seven NEXUS category finals, with the Bank of New Zealand being the only organisation to be recognised on three different occasions.</p>
<p>Teradata’s vice president for Australia and New Zealand, Julian Beavis, said the awards were important because it celebrated Teradata’s commitment to using leading-edge technology to produce tangible business benefits for their customers.</p>
