Woolworths Limited Names webMethods 'IT Supplier of the Year' for Enabling Software

 • 11 December, 2006 14:02

webMethods, Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBM), a leading business integration and optimisation software company, today announced it was named IT Supplier of the Year in the enabling software category by Woolworths Limited, Australia's largest and most successful retailer. This prestigious honour recognises the contributions made by webMethods in advancing Woolworths' business objectives and is based on the quantitative results of the retailer's quarterly vendor performance assessments.

"Our supply chain is fundamental to our success as it allows us to meet key competitive benchmarks for customer service, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency. Over the past four years, webMethods' continuing dedication to improving day-to-day execution has contributed significantly to its world-class performance," said Dan Beecham, General Manager of IT Services, Woolworths Limited. "What distinguished webMethods in this year's judging was the demonstrated depth of their customer commitment. Beyond the speed in which they resolved nearly any technical issue we threw their way were the additional business insight, experience and best practices that they consistently offered for improving operational performance."

Critical mandates for Woolworths' supply chain included the ability to rapidly integrate new acquisitions as well as the need to streamline business processes and enhance visibility with key partners while reducing operational latency and transaction costs. By leveraging webMethods Fabric(tm) as its integration standard, the company has been able to significantly improve its performance across each of these criteria. The platform has also helped Woolworths improve IT efficiency by allowing the company to rationalise its IT portfolio to eliminate redundant systems while facilitating the reuse of existing business processes across multiple implementations.

"Woolworths has established itself as a retailer synonymous with performance, value and customer service. We're extremely honoured to be named their IT Vendor of the Year for enabling software as these are qualities that we hold in similar high regard," said Paul Henaghan, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, webMethods, Inc. "The recognised strength and depth of our software solutions provide us with a solid foundation for meeting customer requirements. However, where we most often exceed their expectations is in our overriding focus on leveraging this technology to not only solve IT challenges, but to ultimately produce measurable business results. Coupled with our commitment to go the 'last mile' to meet their needs, this is fundamental to our ability to consistently deliver customer value."
