Check Point engages Consumer Business Manager and Senior Security Engineer

<p>SYDNEY, 20 November, 2006 - Check Point Software Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd., the leader in securing the Internet, has made two new appointments to its Australian team as part of aggressive market expansion plans.</p>
<p>The newly created Sydney based roles are Andrew McKee, Business Manager Consumer, Asia Pacific and Aviv Abramovich, Senior Security Architect Australia and New Zealand.</p>
<p>According to Scott Ferguson, Regional Vice President Asia Pacific, Check Point Software, both appointments are key to Check Point’s corporate and local strategy.</p>
<p>“The appointment of Andrew McKee to manage Check Point’s consumer business in the region is a significant step for us,” says Ferguson. “With the acquisition of Zone Labs we have seen a terrific increase in the uptake of the Zone Alarm consumer products in the region, justifying a local resource.”</p>
<p>The appointment of Mr McKee is also in line with Check Point's strategic direction of creating a dedicated consumer division whereby additional products will be bought to market.</p>
<p>As a Senior Security Engineer, Aviv Abramovich brings outstanding technical skills to Check Point’s ANZ practice.</p>
<p>“Our objective has been to assist our customers and partners with the resources and skills that they require, says Ferguson. “Adding the specialist experience of Aviv’s calibre is a tremendous bonus for us, and we are very pleased to welcome him to our team.”</p>
<p>These positions bring Check Point’s headcount in the ANZ region to 19.</p>
<p>Andrew McKee, Business Manager Consumer, Asia Pacific</p>
<p>Andrew McKee has been appointed to the role of Business Manager for Check Point’s consumer business within the Asia Pacific region. This newly created position was developed to complete the market presence for Check Point’s range of security product offerings, from consumer through to enterprise.</p>
<p>“Check Point’s consumer products have a terrific reputation of offering customers robust and user friendly security, built by an industry leader in security solutions”, said Mr McKee. “This role is a great opportunity to expand consumer market share in the region and also to better educate customers about the constantly evolving nature of security threats and how our technology can protect them.”</p>
<p>Focusing on both software and hardware, Mr McKee will develop the consumer business with products encompassing Safe@Office appliances and the Zone Alarm security suite. Mr McKee will focus on developing Check Point’s consumer business via retail, online, and through strategic partnerships.</p>
<p>Prior to his position at Check Point, Mr McKee spent 14 years working in consumer technology retail and has experience in the consumer security market.</p>
<p>Aviv Abramovich, Senior Security Architect</p>
<p>Aviv Abramovich joins Check Point’s ANZ practice from the company’s head office in Tel Aviv where he has held a range of technical positions for more than 10 years. Most recently Mr Abramovich was Research and Development group manager for Check Point’s Smart Defence Services, a service to provide real-time updates and configuration advisories for defences and security policies.</p>
<p>During his career at Check Point Mr Abramovich has also worked closely with the development of high end solutions such as Firewall-1 GX providing intelligent security solutions to large enterprise customers.</p>
<p>As Senior Security Architect, Mr Abramovich will provide technical support to customers and partners primarily within NSW and ACT region, and offer specialist expertise across the entire ANZ region as required.</p>
<p>With vast experience in Check Point security products, Mr Abramovich aims to share his deep technical knowledge to further educate customers and partners in the ANZ region.</p>
<p>Mr Abramovich attended Tel-Aviv University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.</p>
