ECM provider integrates software with acquired rival

Software industry consolidation continues

Enterprise content management supplier Open Text will integrate recently acquired competitor RedDot's product roadmap with its ECM and Web content management (WCM) application Livelink.

The RedDot software will be enhanced with Livelink's ECM capabilities including document and records management, business process management and collaboration, while its WCM will introduce clustering for integration with enterprise application.

RedDot chief operations officer Daniel Kraft said the first phase of integration will allow broader Livelink content, such as discussion and opinion polls, to be accessed and published in RedDot software, while the final stage will create simplified single-server platform configuration with advanced clustering and distribution.

"We are excited to include the new functionality with our products which will leverage the Web to improve customer performance," Kraft said. "This strategy will reinforce our position in Web-centric ECM."

A local RedDot spokesperson said staff levels and customer contracts have remained the same since its acquisition by Open Text on October 2 this year for $US489 million.

RedDot has 58 customers across Australia and New Zealand including the Red Cross and a further 58 departments within the Queensland state government which it supplies with an electronic document and records management system (EDRMS).
