Mitel IP Telephony Helps Hospitals Improve Bedside Manner

<p>Mitel®, the trusted provider of IP communications solutions, announced the release of its innovative Tele-Call™ healthcare solution. Working through the hospital’s existing IP network and communications systems, Tele-Call allows patients bedside access to hospital services, as well as delivering patient information to staff through a 17-inch medical-grade touch screen.</p>
<p>Providing healthcare professionals with rapid access to complete and accurate patient information at the point of care allows them to make faster and better treatment decisions. Mitel’s Tele-Call solution allows hospitals to lift the quality of their patient care, by delivering complete access to complex diagnostic information and patient records at the point of care. The solution involves a wall mounted movable touch screen monitor.</p>
<p>Mitel’s Tele-Call solution is a fully interactive IP browser-based system. In addition to assisting staff, Tele-Call provides patients with access to a wide range of IP services, including telephone calls and entertainment services. Patients can directly access IPTV, radio, the Internet and email, along with movies on demand.

<p>Users of Tele-Call interact with an easy to use shared portal for services and content. The system can be used to interactively deliver educational physiotherapy, surveys, virtual tours, online gift shops, and hospital information pages.</p>
<p>Hospital staff can use Tele-Call to access up-to-date patient information at the point of care, including electronic patient records, catering and dietary services, bed status reporting, digital imaging services, patient discharge administration, and medication information.</p>
<p>The solution also provides real-time access to lab test results, transcribed reports, as well as other important information such as patient allergies and health issues.</p>
<p>The next phase of the Tele-Call solution will also offer healthcare providers closed-loop medication management, clinical documentation, integrated nurse-call, and other applications targeted specifically at supporting high quality and safe hospital care.</p>
