MS details how to connect Office, supply chain apps

Microsoft has released its first Reference Application Pack for developers

Microsoft Wednesday released its first Reference Application Pack (RAP) to help developers create collaboration middleware for its upcoming Office 2007 platform.

Those middleware applications, called Office Business Applications, help Office users connect to data and processes in enterprise line-of-business software such as SAP or Oracle Applications, according to Tim O'Brien, director of the platform strategy group.

The first available RAP provides white papers, demos and more for developers on how to create applications that can connect Office with supply-chain management applications.

Future RAP releases will be aimed at retail and financial services applications, O'Brien said.
