Homegrown software company takes advantage of US market

Australian software company, Professional Advantage, is expanding into the US market after 17 years of operation

Local software company Professional Advantage is expanding into the US market after 17 years of operation in Australia.

The mid-market provider, which has its headquarters in North Sydney, has just acquired Epicor reseller Star Accounting Solutions, which is based in Denver.

Professional Advantage will use the Denver office as a launch pad into the US market selling its Senior Living solution, a product that was developed in Australia.

The company's Epicor team general manager Craig Charlton said the goal is to replicate its local success in the US.

Under the terms of the deal, Professional Advantage has acquired the office, customer base and staff of Star Accounting Solutions.

The office will be supplemented by a member of the Australian team who will transfer to the Denver office immediately.

Professional Advantage will be looking to hire a number of additional staff locally, and will also be offering Australian employees the opportunity to transfer for short-, medium- or long-term engagements.

"For customers, we expect that being a bigger organization will allow us to continue increasing investment in product development and support," Charlton said.

"Customers on both sides of the Pacific will drive product enhancement around best practices for the benefit of the entire customer base."
