Teradata Warehouse Server Positioned in Leaders Quadrant

 • 07 September, 2006 16:26

DAYTON, Ohio – 7 September 2006 – Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation, announced that Gartner, Inc. has published its “Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouse Database Management System Servers, 2006,” authored by Donald Feinberg, and others, Aug. 25, 2006. This first-ever report evaluates database management system servers for data warehousing and positions the NCR server in the leaders quadrant.

“Teradata is the only data warehouse vendor with servers that can coexist with six previous generations of servers,” said Scott Gnau, vice president and general manager, Teradata research and development. “This investment protection of integrating the prior generation of servers with new servers outshines other vendors, including data warehouse appliances, who often have to swap out their older systems to introduce new technology.”

As the business grows, the NCR server can grow from a small powerhouse to a 4.2 petabyte-size warehouse capable of the most complex and advanced workloads for global businesses. The NCR servers are designed to support the most demanding mission-critical applications on which customers rely to run their business. The NCR server was purpose-built for data warehousing and is tightly integrated with the Teradata database to deliver the best in class rankings.

Commonly consulted by executives, Gartner evaluates vendors based on the ability to execute and their completeness of vision. According to Gartner, vendors who are positioned in the leaders quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.
