Sun on Tuesday announced it has restructured its storage group and appointed a new storage vice president, sources say.
The company has unified its storage business and put Nigel Dessau in charge of its marketing. Dessau replaces James Whitemore, former vice president of marketing for network storage.
Dessau is the former vice president of Sun's Tape Management Group, chief marketing officer at StorageTek and a former IBM On-Demand executive.
The tape, disk, software, storage marketing and partner management business units will be consolidated into one organization.
All these changes follow on the replacement of Mark Canepa as Sun's executive vice president of storage with David Yen, vice president of Sun's SPARC processor group.
