SONICWALL Offers Secure Alternative to Tape Backup

Real-time data protection offerings for small-to-mid size organisations now available in Australasia

Sydney, May 25 2006 – SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL), today announced the availability of its Continuous Data Protection (CDP) Solution Series in Australasia. Launching through SonicWALL’s extensive local reseller network, this simple and effective secure backup solution will enable users to avoid the complexity and inefficiency of tape while providing easy recovery of data in the event of disasters.

Designed for small and medium sized organisations, the SonicWALL CDP series addresses the ever growing demand at both channel and end user level for a comprehensive and cost–effective secure backup system. The series comprises four different models, the CDP 1440i, the CDP 2440i, the CDP 3440i and the CDP 4440i. Scaling from 15 to unrestricted numbers of users, the new product set provides offices and remote users with easy to use, centrally-managed instant data recovery for desktop or server. SonicWALL’s disk-to-disk, automatic data protection technology offers a striking contrast to the complexity and inefficiency of tape.

Natural disasters such as the flood in New Orleans and the Bunsfield oil refinery explosion in the UK highlight the need for businesses to plan for the unexpected, including putting in place an easy data recovery system suitable for onsite or remote workers. Affordability, accessibility of stored data, and ease of integration are key considerations in the choice of backup.

“By making the breakthrough SonicWALL CDP products available through our global channel network, we are able to reach a broad set of users looking for alternatives to tape backup,” said Chris Barton, Regional Manager, SonicWALL, ANZ “Users want solutions that allow them to reduce operating expenses, reduce risk, and increase reliability. The SonicWALL CDP series has been scaled for mass manufacturing to bring these benefits to a much wider set of users. Used in conjunction with SonicWALL’s deep packet inspection-enabled security offerings, the solution provides a compelling combination of secure networking and data protection.”

Delivering protection for data stored on servers, desktop PCs and laptops, SonicWALL CDP also features bare-metal recovery and local archiving capabilities, which reduce the risk and cost of downtime. This means that administrators can now restore the entire server, operating system, settings and applications of workstations in minutes as opposed to days.

The SonicWALL CDP series further reduces business costs by enabling central and remote administration of policies, instant recovery of data that allows users to recover specific information from a designated point in time with one keystroke, non-invasive local and off-site back up during working hours and a simple user interface enabling retrieval of current and previous file versions.

Supporting the growing compliance and administration requirements imposed on businesses worldwide, SonicWALL’s CDP solution also enables organisations to use advanced reporting tools to archive and retain snapshots of company data.

SonicWALL’s CDP solutions are the first SonicWALL-branded products to be introduced as a result of the company’s November 2005 acquisition of Lasso Logic. The new product set includes enhancements such as advanced reporting tools to meet compliance and administration requirements, an improved user interface, and integration with SonicWALL’s back-end service delivery infrastructure.

Available immediately, SonicWALL CDP backup and recovery systems also support offsite storage options. All systems currently support international offsite storage options, and in-country offsite options will be offered during the second half of 2006.

To celebrate the launch of SonicWALL’s CDP range SonicWALL is offering a special promotion as a starting point where customers can purchase a CDP 1440i for a suggested promotion price of US$1100. These appliances are available through Ingram Micro, LAN 1, itX and ACA Pacific in Australia and Renaissance Brands in NZ.
