QLogic Tuesday announced a variety of switches at its Fusion 2006 partner conference.
The new products include the SANbox 5000, a 96-port stackable switch, the SANbox 6000 Intelligent Storage Router, the SANbox 8000 Storage Services Platform, the SANbox 9000 multi-layer, multiprotocol switch and the InfiniPath InfiniBand host channel adapter.
The QLogic SANbox 5000 Series is a family of stackable Fibre Channel switches that connect via a 10Gbps interconnect and avoid inter-switch links. The switch can grow from as few as eight ports to as many as 96 ports.
The SANbox 6000 Intelligent Storage Router is an iSCSI-to-Fibre-Channel router that can connect servers to Fibre Channel networks. It can also be used to replicated data over distances from remote iSCSI storage are networks (SAN) to Fibre Channel SANs in a data center.
The SANbox 8000 Storage Services Platform is a Fibre Channel switch that can host storage applications from vendors such as CA, Revivio and StoreAge. It attaches to a SAN as an end node, allowing it to be SAN hardware-independent. It also uses hardware acceleration and a non-blocking architecture to ensure that data throughput is optimized.
The SANbox 9000 multi-layer, multiprotocol switch is a 4U (7-inch) high chassis that supports eight 4Gbps Fibre Channel switch blades for a total of 128 ports. It can also support eight 10Gbps Ethernet switch blades for a total of 32 ports. The 9000 also provides iSCSI- and Fibre-Channel-over-IP routing and bridging and can host a storage services blade that will run intelligent storage applications.
The InfiniPath InfiniBand HCA is designed to be used as a cluster interconnect. It uses the InfiniPath HyperMessaging Architecture, which supports more than 10 million messages per second.
Pricing is not available on the new switches, routers and HBAs. The products will be available through QLogic's channel of resellers and distributors.
