In another sign the SaaS (software as a service) model is increasing its enterprise appeal, the federal Department of Health and Ageing's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is looking to outsource its human resources application.
A request for tender issued by the TGA for a "hosted human resource management information system and business support services" aims to have the existing system replaced by January 31 next year.
"TGA is seeking to identify a suitably qualified service provider to provide a fully hosted human resource and management information system (HRMIS) able to pay, calculate, and maintain human resource information for staff in Australia and New Zealand," the RFT stated.
The services sought by the administration include payment of salaries and wages, all disbursements, the production of electronic pay slips, and the production and distribution of payment summaries.
The ASP-style of software delivery began to receive widespread acceptance in the CRM space by the likes of Salesforce.com; however, with enterprise processes being increasingly developed for the Web, applications like HR are quickly following suit.
TGA is also interested in the provision of the following optional services and systems:
- A full bureau service for transactional human resource functions;
- A recruitment system;
- A travel system; and
- A compensation and occupational health and safety system/module
