Services automation solution goes open source

Professional Services Automation solution, AllocPSA, has been released as open source software under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL), allowing businesses to obtain and modify the source code free of charge.

An organization-wide business solution that integrates all practice groups and functions in a professional services company into a single computer system, AllocPSA consists of a set of integrated software modules for areas like resource planning, project management, time management, and expenses.

Other features include integration with existing invoicing, book-keeping and payroll systems, and support for issue tracking, messages and announcements, knowledge management, collaboration, services supply chain, human resources and management of cost centres.

Melbourne-based IT services firm Cybersource's CEO Con Zymaris said AllocPSA enables services organizations to achieve better profitability by improving staff efficiency through increased utilization of time, better planning, and integrated knowledge management.

"AllocPSA offers total integration between the modules as well as an open architecture and integration with your existing processes and software," Zymaris said, adding that it is an online, Web-based suite, which can be deployed to dozens of users with zero client-side installation, within your LAN, WAN, or as an extranet application to authorized personnel and partners, from anywhere on the Internet.

By default, the solution requires the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) application server stack for installation, but can be reconfigured for use on other platforms.
