JobServe transforms applicants into employees with Alchemy

Online job network, JobServe, will be unveiling a new search tool this month, which targets active job seekers.

Dubbed Alchemy, the tool enables advertisers to filter through relevant applicants who are actively searching for jobs.

Robbie Cowling, managing director of Jobserve designed the tool which was launched globally six weeks ago after being in development for the past year.

Susan Durovic, JobServe marketing and promotions coordinator, claimed the search engine was four times more effective than searching regular resume databases as users can specify criteria and eliminate dormant applications. The tool only searches resumes that have been in the database for the last three months.

"Alchemy not only searches a candidate's resume but it also searches the application, searches performed by the job seeker, jobs viewed and jobs applied for," she said.

Employers can create their own searches with Alchemy or choose from a list of predefined searches on offer from JobServe. If an applicant's credentials meet the required criteria, the site then generates an e-mail requesting they apply for the position.

"We've had really good local feedback from employers in the UK. The more they understand it the more benefit they are deriving from it," Durovic said.

JobServe was launched in Australia in 2002 after a successful tenure in the UK. It initially serviced the IT sector, but has since expanded to cover 17 other industries.

The online job advertiser's primary focus was still on IT though, Durovic said.

"Our job numbers have increased by 100 percent in the past 12 months," but IT has quadrupled in that time, she said. "Some 12 months ago we were publishing 2000 IT jobs a week, and now we are publishing up to 8000 a week."
