Tech companies join choice workplace list

Several big name technology companies have been included in this year's Employer of Choice for Women (EOCFW).

The Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) announced Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, IBM and Motorola have all joined the list.

The list names 116 Australian employers that have policies and practices which support women across the organization. These organizations typically boast women in higher numbers at senior levels, succession plans for women in management, development plans for high achievers, paid maternity leave and high maternity leave retention rates and the ability to work part-time at all levels.

"Employers on this list understand and address the barriers to women's full participation. From the school principal, to the vice chancellor, to the CEO of a non-profit organization or a multinational, they understand their business can't thrive on under-utilized talent," agency director, Anna McPhee, said in a media statement.

McPhee said that since the EOWA Employer of Choice list was introduced in 2001, the agency has received an increasing number of enquiries from organizations wanting to add this citation to their 'resume'.
