At the RSA Conference in San Jose this week, NetIQ unveiled a VoIP security product and an upgrade to its security management software that features faster updates and simplified agent management.
The company's new VoIP Security Solution works with Cisco's IP Telephony to defend against denial-of-service attacks, viruses, worms, toll fraud, eavesdropping and other threats that can penetrate an organization through its VoIP setup, according to product manager Diane Garey.
Leveraging NetIQ's existing VoIP management and security management products, the new offering gives administrators real-time information about the system's performance and availability, as well as alerts to any security threats, Garey says. These events are logged for auditing and analysis.
The VoIP Security Solution includes AppManager for Cisco IP Telephony - Security option, which monitors the VoIP environment for security events and configuration changes; the AppManager Call Data Analysis, which examines call detail records for abuse and generates reports; and the Security Manager for IP Telephony, which logs and analyzes security events for potential threats.
Scheduled for release later this quarter, the VoIP Security Solution will cost US$6 per IP phone.
NetIQ this week also announced version 5.5 of its NetIQ Security Manager, designed to protect networks from intrusion and manage and analyze security-related occurrences through a centralized console.
New features in this version include delivery of content updates - such as those pertaining to rules, views, summary reports, and forensic queries - as soon as they are available, says senior product manager Sacha Dawes. It also features a wizard that simplifies the administration and use of agents across an organization.
The new release also protects and audits data running on Unix-based versions of Oracle, and can collect events from Windows without requiring an agent, using the Windows Event Log Proxy, says Dawes.
NetIQ Security Manager 5.5, slated for release in March, will be priced starting at US$1,100 per managed device.
