MicroStrategy has certified the latest version of its business-intelligence software to work with two popular open-source databases, MySQL and PostgreSQL, it announced on Tuesday.
It called the move part of a wider strategy to support open-source software. Its products already run on Linux and work with the Mozilla Firefox browser and other open-source software.
The new database support comes with an upgrade to MicroStrategy 8 that was released in January. The company also planned to add new ad-hoc reporting capabilities and release some lower-cost reporting packages, according to a statement it released Jan. 31.
