Telstra exec resigns to become CEO's advisor

Senior Telstra executive Doug Campbell is resigning to become an advisor to the telco's CEO Sol Trujillo.

Currently group managing director of Telstra's CountryWide division, Campbell will leave at the end of December after five years in the role.

The announcement was detailed in a letter from Trujillo to Telstra employees.

"I am very pleased to announce that Doug has accepted my invitation to continue his long association with Telstra," Trujillo said.

"Doug has agreed to serve in the role of executive adviser to the CEO."

Campbell will also serve on the Telstra CountryWide Advisory Board.

He has been at Telstra since the late 1980s and has held the positions of group managing director for wholesale, international, carrier services, network and technology, and consumer and commercial business units.
