Acer has announced its Intel-based dual-core desktop for the business market. The Veriton 7800 and 5800 series are based on the new Intel Pentium D 800 or Pentium 4 600 series processors with Hyper-Threading and support 2MB of cache, PCI Express, up to 4GB of memory, and SATA 3. The Veriton PCs have eight USB 2.0 ports and a built-in gigabit networking. They also ship with Acer's eManager 2.0 pre-loaded, which includes eSecurity to restrict unauthorized access, eSetting for controlling system features, and eRecovery to recover applications and drivers. A machine of this calibre seems like overkill for wordprocessing and e-mail. High-end graphics and workstation tasks are more likely.
