Australian Idols sing Telstra's 3G tune

Telstra is hoping that Australian Idol stars will help attract the masses to its new consumer 3G mobile deals, which it launched today.

The service will enable customers to watch National Nine and Sky news video news clips, view more than 200 i-mode content sites, play online games, send and receive email from Yahoo and Bigpond sites; and use ebay.

Telstra's Head of Pioneers Marketing, Mike Robey, said in a statement that the new Australian Idol video diaries would be added to the site as they became available.

Customers have a choice of four new handsets which are the Motorola V975, Samsung Z500, Sony Ericsson K600i or the i-mode NEC N600i.

Customers who buy a 3G handset on a repayment option can take up the $49 and $79 cap plan with a $5 per month Mobile Surf and Email Pack and get up to $250 or $550 worth of standard voice calls, as well as MessageBank, and text messages. Both capped plans offer a two-month introductory free video call offer.
