Hostworks has bumped up its outsourcing services for Ticketek, winning a $6.1 million managed services contract to provide its entire critical IT infrastructure.
Managing director, Marty Gauvin, said it had been hosting the ticketing agency's Web channel since 1999. The new contract would now see it provide the backend systems for its remaining call centre and agency outlets in Australia and New Zealand.
It will also implement a disaster recovery and data warehouse solution, as well as about a dozen business applications like email and financial services. The three-year contract would now be one of the largest struck by Hostworks with a single customer, Gauvin said.
Despite maintaining a longstanding agreement with other Publishing and Broadcasting Limited companies, Gauvin said it had faced competition from other outsourcing players.
"The size of this deal puts us in the league of major outsourcers like CSC and IBM," he said. "These organisations would have been alternatives [for Ticketek]."
Hostworks had redesigned Ticketek's internal IT environment and brought in equipment to refresh its infrastructure, Gauvin said.
The next step would be to configure its own data centres and start bringing across systems and applications one at a time, he said.
"This will allow them to refocus internal resources on improving business processes rather than the day-to-day stuff," he said.
