Optima to supply complete hardware and service solution to Department of Corrective Services

<p>Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), the leading Australian computer manufacturer, has been contracted to supply a total hardware and service solution to the New South Wales Department of Corrective Services (DCS), following the successful completion of the first phase of a new hardware rollout.</p>
<p>In February 2005 Optima supplied the Department with a range of new desktop computers and system upgrades. Now entering the second phase of its rollout, the DCS has again selected Optima as its sole solution supplier, responsible for the provision of over 1,700 desktops and 3,500 system upgrades, as well as a range of fully customised services.</p>
<p>Service capabilities were the focus of the phase two tender, as the DCS required a vendor that could effectively maintain and support its hardware. Under the new contract, Optima will provide the DCS with a selection of cost-effective, value-added services that have been specifically developed to meet Department requirements.</p>
<p>“DCS is proud to be associated with Optima in the upgrade of our PC fleet,” said Wayne Ruckley, Executive Director IM&amp;T, Department of Corrective Services. “This enables DCS to fulfil critical business needs with the confidence that the fleet now comprises the most up to date and supported technologies available. Most importantly, Optima is managing the deployment of this fleet, enabling DCS staff to concentrate more fully on servicing direct DCS business needs.”</p>
<p>While the DCS has had two dedicated suppliers over the past three years, the new hardware and services contract, worth a total of $2.3 million, sees Optima emerge as its sole supplier. The deal emphasises Optima’s solid service capabilities and further strengthens its position in the competitive government market.</p>

<p>Under the contract, Optima will equip existing DCS units with a standard operating environment (SOE) and hardware upgrades to meet DCS corporate policies and requirements. It will also supply the DCS with new systems customised with a pre-installed Windows XP based SOE and comprehensive asset management features. As part of the rollout, Optima will remove any old systems, securely disposing of all unit data.</p>
<p>The new desktop used for the rollout is the Optima WorkPro D9S that is based on the latest Intel 915G Express Chipset and Intel Pentium 4 Processors with Hyper-Threading technology. The WorkPro D9S delivers unique security benefits for demanding users including a Trusted Platform Module - an embedded chip designed to shield unencrypted keys and platform authentication information from software-based attacks.</p>
<p>All new and upgraded systems are supported by four-year onsite warranty.</p>
